Barcelona to Host Historic Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend

Barça revealed they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans can be present as per the current authorization. After final construction, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.

Preparatory Events

Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
