Chalobah Poised to Step in for Guehi in Three Lions Squad

Chelsea defender in action

Trevoh Chalobah emulated his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first pair of brothers to be selected for the England side.

Trevoh Chalobah is likely to link up with the Three Lions selection to cover for injured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is due to link up with the squad for England's last World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, but it has still not been officially announced.

The national side have already booked their place for next summer's tournament.

Chalobah was given his first call-up under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then made his debut against Senegal.

In the month of September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be left out from the squad for qualifying games against Serbia and Andorra, and also didn't call him up for the next October matches.

Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's development, having awarded him his Chelsea first appearance in 2021.

Chalobah has featured in all but four fixtures for Chelsea this season, with the team in third place in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup last eight and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi suffered a injury to his foot in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League victory over AZ Alkmaar last week.

There are expected to be further call-ups to the team. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will be unavailable from the squad.
