19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first title following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.
Success also indicates he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.
He rescued four initial break points in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
