Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
