Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Iconic Releases
Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
The company has a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
