First-year standout Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, completing 25 of 34 passes
Victory bolsters the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with QB Justin Fields running in a short rushing score to cap the New York's opening drive
But the Patriots fought back in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He aims to be excellent."
Justin Fields threw to Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
