Tuchel Criticizes Home Crowd Support Following Emphatic Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel voiced his sadness that the Three Lions team did not enjoy more encouragement from the home fans during their decisive friendly win against Wales on Thursday night.

The manager was pleased to see his squad continue their strong performance, with finishes from Rogers, Watkins, and Saka inside the opening quarter effectively ending the game. However, he was not content with the mood at the national stadium.

“With limited sessions to prepare against a drilled team and we did very well,” the coach remarked. “It could have been five goals ahead at the break. We missed the additional ones. It was quiet. There was no any energy back from the stands. We did everything to win.”

“What more can you deliver in 20 minutes? We prevented them get away. If you hear just the Welsh supporters for 30 minutes, it’s sad because the team earned greater backing today.”

“I support my words. We cannot do more than being 3-0 in a derby. I would have wished for a greater backing in phases where it becomes tough.”

“After halftime, to get behind us, there was excessive support for Wales. It could have helped us to regain energy, but that’s the way it went and so be it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Display

Away from potentially starting a dispute among supporters, the manager also raised eyebrows by leaving out Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden from his team selection. Yet the move was backed up by Rogers impressing again in the No 10 position and netting his first international goal.

“That’s his style,” the head coach said. “He is a No 10 and he is competing for his spot.”

Bellamy Seeks Lessons from Defeat

The Wales manager expressed hope that his team, who face Belgium in a crucial World Cup qualifier on next week, improve after their poor performance in the opening period.

“That’s the reason I scheduled this match,” the manager said. “I need to see our standing. Where do we want to go? What is our identity? Today fills me with inspiration.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Watkins was withdrawn at the break after clattering into a post and may miss out when the national team play Latvia in the Latvian capital in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
